The term hypnosis does not necessarily mean someone dangling a pocket watch in front of you telling you, “you are becoming very sleepy”. We all experience a state of hypnosis during our everyday lives and during occasions that are special to us. It is basically a state of becoming completely absorbed in what we are doing to a degree that the world outside means less to us. It is when our bodies and minds are in a state of total relaxation and when our body, mind and spirit are as one.

A lot of people fear hypnosis, as they do not fully understand its effects. We all see hypnotherapists putting people in trances and performing silly tasks such as barking like a dog or acting like a chicken. This fear has grown due to the increased influence that the media presents. However, hypnotherapies help thousands of people each year.

How Can Hypnosis Help You?

Hypnosis can help you change bad habits and give them up for good. The most common use of hypnosis in use today is to help us give up smoking. Do not be fooled into thinking that hypnosis is some sort of magical cure, as it is not. Hypnosis usually only works if the subject themselves wants to give up whatever habit they are using hypnosis to cure. If you really want to change your lifestyle or habit than hypnosis could be your answer.

Hypnosis can also unlock reasons that we have placed ourselves into situations such as stress. Hypnosis can also help in the field of medicine where some incredible things have already been done.

Between the 18th and 19th century, hypnotists have been able to control the pain in certain patients that are undergoing specific medical procedures. The feeling of pain is spread throughout our body via the minutes and through the spinal cord and receptor in the brain. The use of hypnosis, in such circumstances, allows the mind to block out any messages that it is receiving that the body is in pain. Although the body is still aware of the pain, they hypnosis is blocking the sensation which is called analgesia.

One of the most difficult and painful times in a woman's life is during childbirth which is why the women always look for the least painful way of delivery. Some people have been known to use hypnotists while giving birth and have experienced no pain.

Hypnosis is one of the most effective ways of learning to enhance your hidden talent and skills to achieve things that you would not normally believe possible. The skill of hypnosis offers a unique and different way of doing things compared to the more conventional forms of medicine.

Hypnosis can sometimes help us and cover things in our minds that we have long forgotten which can sometimes be the starting effect of why we took up bad habits in the first place. For an example, the hypnotist will suggest that we eat fruit or do some exercise instead of smoking a cigarette. This is what is called the Power of suggestion.
