Affiliate Products and Their Version of the Truth

You want to make money online and I hope you have taken the time to read up on the basics of marketing and business. If you have then you will have discovered who you really are and why you want to run an online business.

If you have not done this then it is essential that you do, otherwise you will wander the internet in a horribly unfocused manner, ripe for the unscrupulous to prey upon.

Congratulations you have analysed yourself and created a realistic business plan, which has a clear path to your success. Now for the big question that I hope you answered, whose products are you selling?

If you are selling your own then this article is not really that important to you, unless you are doing imitations. However if you are going to act as an affiliate then this article is essential reading for you.

ClickBank is the largest resource for the affiliate marketer and as such it is a place you need to get familiar with. There are plenty of articles that cover the searching and selecting of products on this site, so I will not cover that. However the key factor to remember is that ClickBank does not vet the products, they rely upon the market to alert them to the truly illegal or mediocre products, they will then remove these if they agree.

All those training articles fail to mention this most important factor with regard to ClickBank products.

You did your analysis and you found a product that should set your market on fire, it comes with great sales copy and all the right features. All you have to do is promote it and watch the cash roll in; you have found the dream product.

I thought I had found such a product.

Where did you do your research on this product? Was it all a matter or analysing the ClickBank page and the market for this product or did you dig a little deeper?

If you want to ensure that you do not have a problem further down the line, then you really need to dig a lot deeper. The most basic check that you can do is to find out who wrote the article and what their expertise in this area really is. You do not know me, but you can tell that I have written a couple of articles for this site. What if I claimed that I was an international writer with several works published in major industry publications. This would raise the power of my opinion to a much higher and more influential level, or it would if it were true. The question is how would you check my claim? I would do a Google search on my name, then on the publications that I mentioned. You of course need to read the results and see what is being said. I have done my homework and have created a presence on each site; however the forums soon reveal the charlatans. That is how I revealed my dream product for what it was.

If they claim to be an eBay expert then they must be active on eBay at the moment, that is an easy check to do and one my dream product failed on. Perhaps they were successful on eBay and have now moved on? Well the question then is just how old is the information and how relevant is it. My favourite marketing book was written in 1927, but still makes for a fascinating read as we are still using the same tactics today!

Does the product have a trial period, did you actually check for this? If it does not have a trial then how do you know what information is being provided and how many people buy on blind faith? More importantly you can use the trial to get key insider material to pitch to your readers. Once they sign up they will see this material and your reputation will improve immediately, as they are experiencing exactly what you promised.

The key factor is that you must know what you are selling, right down to the very smallest detail, apart from securing you financial future and your hard won reputation. Carrying out due diligence also makes writing reviews and sales pitch very easy, as you have become an expert on the product.
